Named after the Greek symbol for the eternal cycle of renewal, the

Ouroboros Dance Project strives to present their own take on Transcultural Fusion Group Improv, a  "Bellydance" Fusion group improvisation format.

This new project began in the fall of 2017 after beloved local instructor and troupe director Jaki Hawthorne retired and disbanded Tarabiya Dance and Music, formerly the Jahara Phoenix Dance Company and student sister troupe Sherar. A few of the students reached out to Heidi, a former student of Jaki's and Jahara Phoenix Assistant Director to see if she would be interested in continuing the troupe and their dance journey.

Knowing she was headed in a different direction Heidi offered an alternative that would allow her to play with the format and push the boundaries of Carolena Nericcio's FCBD®Style  adding Transcultural Fusion moves inspired by  Hahbi'Ru, Jill Parker, Mardi Love and Rachel Brice that fit into the dialect along with layering finger cymbal patterns inspired by Jamila Salimpour's Bal Anat and adding Amy Sigil's Improv Team Sync formation system.

It's synchronized group improvisation done OUR way aimed at spreading a little joy and a whole lot of self empowerment through unity and movement.
